What is CCS?
Cross Country Saskatchewan (CCS) is a discipline of winter
skiing governed by SASKI.CCS is a non-profit volunteer directed organization.
Membership is club-based where skiers belong to CCS, SASKI, and Cross
Country Canada.

• to develop and support competitive and recreational programs throughout
the province

• to promote full service clubs
• to promote loppets and races as provincial events
• to host major national competitions
• to increase the of number recreational and competitive participants
• to strive towards competitive excellence
• to promote healthy physical & mental lifestyle
• to facilitate programs/activities (loppets and races)
• to represent cross country skiing at CCC Level, Sask Sport and
Sask Ski

Goals for CCS 2005-2010
1. Develop and Maintain Full Service Clubs
• Full service clubs are characterized by a range of facilities,
and coaches, have officials for hosting competitions, youth, competitive,
and disabled programs, recreational tours, loppets, lessons, and all season
events,
2. Coaches and Officials
• Train Instructors to follow the CBET Model
• Maintain instruction for those coaches who wish to continue their
NCCP
• Provide training camps to coaches and officials for those clubs
wanting to move on to full service clubs
3. Competition
• Objective is to place an athlete in the top 10 at Nationals.
• Goal is to develop a High Performance program which consists of:
developing coaches and officials; and update competitor handbook; a selection
criteria on who are elite, developing and fun racers. Evalution of competitors
will be a performance based ladder system.
• To provide assistance for racers to attend high performance events
4. Trails and Facilities
• Assist clubs to move to a full service model
5. Disabled
• To encourage participation of all skiers and provide assistance
for disabled programs wherever possible
• Assist clubs to move to a full service model
6. Recreational
• Encourage participation of recreational skiers and revitalize
the loppet series
7. Youth Programming
• To increase youth participation in Jack Rabbit programs, competitions
and events;
• To broaden the School based/Ski Fit North Program to all parts
of the province
8. Technical Director
• To hire a professional director to oversee competitive events,
coaches, and athletes in the province

Note: Positions are expected to attend all executive and annual meetings as called.

- Call and chair executive and annual meetings
- Act as signing officer of CCS
- Represent CCS at SASKI and CCC Level
- Prepare a final report at year end with recommendations for the following season
- Speak on behalf of CCS

- Provide guidance to board and staff in day to day administration of CCS
- Coordinate implementation of CCS Long Range Plan
- Coordinate budget preparation amongst Directors and staff
- Act as ex-officio member of all CCS committees

- Act as a signing officer
- Keep full and accurate books of accounts
- Prepare financial reports to present at executive and annual meetings
- Prepare a final report at year end with recommendations for the following season
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget

- Provide to the executive an account of all transactions and the financial position of the Association
- Provide analysis of financial information as required
- Follow the long range plan with actions included and initiated under the Finance and Fundraising section.

- Prepare reports for executive and annual meetings
- Assist in the preparation of CCS annual budget with respect to Coaching and Officials programs
- Prepare agenda and chair program group meetings at AGM
- Prepare final report at year end with recommendations for the following season
- Sit on the Competition Committee and attend competition committee meetings
- Assist in the coordination of officials and coaching courses

- Act as the CCS rep to the CCC Technical contact
- Publicize rules and technical changes with the competition committee
- Coordinate acquisition and allocation of CCS timing and official related equipment for events
- Update the Coaching and Officials Development section of the Long Range plan annually
- Follow the Long Range plan with actions included and initiated under Officials and Coaching development

- Assist and encourage the development of certified club coaches

- Call all competition meetings as required
- Chair Competition Committee meetings
- Formulate CCS positions on CCC competition issues
- Maintain provincial awards system for race series
- Update the Competition section of the Long Range Plan annually
- Follow the Long Range plan with actions included and initiated under the competition section

- Assist in the preparation of CCS annual budget with respect to Youth Programs
- Prepare agenda for and chair program group meeting at AGM
- Prepare a final written report at year end with recommendations for the following season
- Maintain regular contact with board and staff

- Coordinate CCS and CCC Youth Programs
- Promote the formation of Jackrabbit clubs
- Maintain regular contact with Jackrabbit clubs to encourage development of programs and ordering supplies
- Organize, judge and present awards for the National Ski Week Jackrabbit contest
- Update section of Long Range Plan annually
- Follow the Long Range Plan with actions included and initiated under the Youth Programs section
