Originally scheduled as a 2-day race weekend, frigid temperatures forecasted for Saturday, Dec. 13 have resulted in a switch to a 1-day Sask Cup race weekend, on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025. Free Technique Sprint at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex in Saskatoon. Search "Sask Cup" on Zone4.ca to register before 5pm today.
On top of the classic sprints, a lot of fun was had in the shorter cash sprints and ski playground obstacle course at the Don Allen Trails north of La Ronge this weekend.

We've got snow falling in Saskatchewan this week! ❄️ Last week, 53 athletes, 7 coaches, and lots of helpful parents were able to get on snow over a week early at the 2024 CCS Snow Camp in Lake Louise. Lots of kilometers skied with friends, fresh snow, fun activities on and off the trail, and a practice race made for a great camp. There were 8 different ski clubs represented, which is great to see. We're almost ready for the first ski races of the season!
60 athletes and 11 coaches from Manitoba and Saskatchewan gathered in Moose Mountain Provinci al Park last weekend for a collaborative dryland training camp to prepare for the upcoming cross country ski season. Thanks to all who came from near and far, and contributed to a memorable weekend! It was a weekend of contrasts, as Saturday was one of the windiest days in memory. Despite the extreme conditions, we were still able stay active and safe during 3 training sessions on Saturday, although not many photos were taken. 🌬😵‍💫 The resolve and determination required on Saturday was rewarded on Sunday, as conditions calmed, the sun came out and participants were treated to a beautiful fall day. Athletes skate rollerskied with power and high tempo in a sprint simulation around the campground race course and added some more kilometers on their rollerskis, before saying "Good Byes!" and heading home.

For now we'll say a huge congrats to the athletes on their positive outlook this week and gritty performances on the trails. As well a MASSIVE Thank You! to the event committee at @coursesengneraces for putting in an unbelievable effort to ensure races happened despite soo many weather-related hurdles thrown in their way. "Damp but happy" sums up the first full day in the Ottawa/Gatineau Region for Team Sask at Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals. Today was the Official Training Day to give the athletes and coaches a chance to ski the race courses before the racing begins tomorrow, with an Interval Start Free Technique race. 16 Sask athletes racing from U16 to U20, plus 3 Sask "alumni". We refueled in the afternoon by visiting a cabane a sucre for a french-canadian traditional. Beans, potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancakes and maple syrup for supper! 🍁

The group had a fairy-ly good at Alberta Youth Championships. 🧚‍♂️ Thirteen athletes from Saskatchewan (La Ronge, Preeceville, Regina, and Saskatoon) competed at Alberta Youth Championships in Bragg Creek last weekend. AYC is an annual event for U12 and U14 skiers that is focused on creating a fun race weekend, with all athletes and coaches staying together at nearby Camp Horizon. There's a costume relay, sprints, wave start skate races, group meals in the dining hall, adance and guest presenter (this year it was Olympic ski racer Olivia Bouffard-Nesbitt). Thanks @xc_bragg and @nordiqalberta for putting on a great event!
